International Compliance

Owners of turbine powered aircraft having US Registration (“N” number) need a Letter of Authorization (LOA) to access Special Use Airspace, fully utilize aircraft performance capability and modern electronic navigation systems.

LOA’s or Operating Waivers, issued by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to previous owner/operators do not automatically transfer to new owners. New owner/operators must apply to the FAA and obtain a new LOA issued in their name to operator in Special Areas of Operation (SAO) airspace, such as:

  • North Atlantic High Level Airspace (NAT HLA)
  • RNP Oceanic & Remote Routes (RNP-10, 4 , 2 or A-RNP)
  • Future Air Navigation System (FANS – CPDLC & ADS-C)
  • Performance Based Communication & Surveillance (PBCS)
  • Terminal Arrivals & Departure Procedures (RNAV/RNP)
  • Reduced Vertical Separation Minima (RVSM)
  • Minimum Equipment List Authorization (MEL)

Below are additional considerations when operating internationally:

  • Electronic Vision/Head Up Display Authorization (EFVS/HUD)
  • Company Operations Manual – ICAO Annex 6 Part 2 with a Safety Management System (SMS) included.

All of the above LOA Authorizations are issued to the operator when aircraft installed equipment and crew training documentation are proven to meet FAA requirements.
